Opening Lines for Books
This is today's cool site from
Kim Komando. It is called
Opening Hooks . I could spend all day reading the openings.
This one makes me laugh:

Selig criticizes Dbacks manager
He doesn't like the fact that the Dbacks walked Bonds several times last weekend and Bonds did not get his chance to hit his 700th home run at Bank One. I agree with Pedrique, the Dbacks don't need anymore "bad stuff" this season. Let Bonds hit #700 in against the Brewers or Padres.
Selig's comments make me wonder if he is stilling holding a grudge against the Dbacks because of Jerry Conlangelo?
Memo to King Bud: Jerry got fired! Quit taking your insecurities out on the Dbacks organization. We expect an All-Star game soon. (before the Padres!)

Sunday - Playing at Jeepers/Jungle Jim's
We were out running errands and walked by Jeepers(51st Ave and Bell). Gavin begged to go in and play. Ginger and I had not been there, but Gavin had with his Grammy and Grampy. The were not impressed then and were not impressed yesterday.
The place is dirty and somewhat run down. It looks like the owners have put no money back into renovations or upgrades. The place is interesting because they have games, rides and a huge playarea in doors. If management took some time to clean up and repaint, they would probably stay busy year round.

Heartbreaking
As parent it is very easy to get caught up in the rush of life. A mom from Mesa, AZ left her 4 month old child in her car yesterday for four hours. The baby's temp when they found her was 109!
This is an AZ Republic article on the story.

Ice Cream Treat
After our bbq dinner, we stopped by Baskin Robbins for an ice cream treat. The guy working the counter got a kick out of GG wearing his "gimme a kiss" t-shirt. You can see how cute he was in the pictures below.

Arizona BBQ
In July, we attended a church gathering and the hostess served some mouth watering bbq. We learned that the store had recently moved to the Arrowhead Mall area. (formerly their shop was about two miles from our house.)
The place is called Arizona BBQ. We have eaten their at least once a week in August and September. The food is delicious. My favorite meat dishes are the pulled pork sandwich and the pork ribs. For a side dish, I like their potatoes au graten. Ginger likes their bbq chicken sandwich.
The new location is on 83rd and Bell, next door to the Arrowhead Harley Davidson store. We highly recommend this resturant!
Sir Charles Quote
I listen to a radio show called "
The Positive Side of Sports" on AM860 each afternoon. They have Charles Barkley on as a quest each week. Today, they were talking about food. His comments made me laugh!
He said, "The two greatest white inventors are the Colonel Harland Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken and Vernon Rudolph, the founder of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts."
LOL! That was one of the funniest radio spots I have heard in a long time!

My birthday is coming and this is what I want.
Swiss Army knife with a USB drive!
Don't say it! I already know. Geek!
Windows SP2
A
newsletter I read suggested that I order the
Service Pack 2 from Microsoft and receive it via US Mail since it is 250 MB. I was pleasantly surprised to have received the cd rom in less than two weeks.
A co-worker at Cybertrails was telling a customer how the Windows operating system is an inferior operating system since it needs service packs and updates. This made me laugh. How does needing updates make it inferior? The last time I checked all operating systems need an occansional update. So does this make all operating systems inferior? If so, what is the standard?

Job - Technology Position
The company for which I work is allowing me to hire a person to help me with the technology needs of the company. The position will be working with both hardware, software and curriculum design. If you know of someone in the Phoenix area with great technology skills, send them to our website at

A good day just got better!
My wife and I had a 92 Saturn for sale. We parked it on the street in front of our house with For Sale signs in the windows. After a few days, guy made me a low ball offer and I declined. The next night the car was stolen. I don't think there is a connection, but who knows. We had minimal insurance on the car, meaning no theft coverage. We figured the car was gone.
Today, I was watching the Diamondbacks game when my cell phone rang. This guy named Jack said that the car had been in front of his house for a couple of weeks. He had called the cops, but had gotten my number off the For Sale signs and wanted to let me know where it was located.
I got to the car before the police arrived. The ignition switch was busted, but no other damage. Jack came out of his house and we chatted about the car. He made me an offer for the car. His offer was a little low, but I was happy to be done with this car. (This was the 3rd time it was stolen and recovered!) I drove home, got the title and drove back to the Saturn. The PD was there clearing the car out of their computer system. I finished up with the officer and went to find Jack. He handed me the cash for the car and I signed the title. Yoohoo. I am glad to be done with that vehicle!

This is an awesome story for the Jackson Hole News about a guy surving a grizzly attack by defending himself with his bike and his friend using pepper spray.
